Motorists face disruption as a £700,000 roadworks project in North Ayrshire gets underway later this week.
Essential maintenance on the A78 between Springfield and Largs Yacht Haven will take place from Thursday, February 18 until Monday, March 1.
It's hoped the £685,573 scheme will benefit the 7,503 motorists who take the route daily.
The works will aim to improve the condition of the carriageway and drainage, reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
Motorists have been warned that work will be carried out during the hours of 8pm and 6am each night while weekend closures will be required from Friday, February 19 until Monday February 22 and again on Friday, February 26 until Monday, March 1.
The work will be carried out using a combination of two-way convoy traffic management and full road closures.
A78 northbound traffic will be diverted at Chapelhill roundabout onto the B780, Dalry Road to merge onto the eastbound West Kilbride Road.
Traffic will continue through James Street, North Street and Braehead to join the B784 and then onto the A760 at Largs Road. From here, traffic will rejoin the A78 at Haylie Brae. Eastbound traffic will be diverted at Kilbirnie onto the B780, Dalry Road.
An overnight closure in advance of the works on the A760 at Haylie Brae will follow the same route, with additional signage in place along the A78 between Largs and Ardrossan.
The Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) rail replacement bus services affected will be confirmed as soon as possible with details issued separately.
Roads chiefs say all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
