Roadworks planned over October half-term for busy Scottish road

MAJOR repairs to almost 23km of water main continues this month with road closures over several weekends, including the October holidays.

The £40 million repairs involves installation of a new large water main from Auchiries to Ellon, which is expected to take around 24 months.

The majority of the work will take place on rural land, however, there are some sections where the work will be required to cross some roads, including the A975.

The first closure will be in place on the A975 (North of Broadmuir Steadings) at Kiplaw from Saturday 12 until Monday 14.

The second closure will impact the A975 (South of Broadmuir Steadings) at Kiplaw from Friday 18 until Monday 21.

The final road closure on the A975 (west of Slains School) will be in place from Friday 25 until Sunday 27.

Advance signage will be in place ahead of each closure and diversions will be in place.

Will bus services still run on the A975?

The publicly owned utility company has been liaising with the local bus company and can confirm that some services will be rerouted during the A975 closures.

Service X63 (Aberdeen – Peterhead via Newburgh) will operate as normal from Aberdeen to Newburgh (Main Street), then re-route via School Road, B9000 and A90 to Bridgend Junction, then via unclassified road to Cruden Bay (Golf Road) and A975, then as per normal route to Peterhead and vice versa.

Bus stops located on the A975 from Newburgh (Main Street, north of School Road/B9000) to South of Cruden Bay will not be served during the closure.

Bus users have been asked to note that services may operate late during the closure.
