Roadworks on horizon for A76 as £226,000 project ready to go in East Ayrshire

Motorists are being advised that works will take place soon on a busy route in East Ayrshire.

The £226,781 project looks set to be carried out on the A76 from Garleffan roundabout to Lochhill, north of New Cumnock.

Essential maintenance will be ongoing from Monday, November 29 until Sunday, December 5.

Between the hours of 6am and 7pm each day, temporary traffic lights will also be in place at various locations within the area of the works to facilitate the cooling of deeper materials.

And an overnight convoy will be in place between the hours of 7pm and 6am.

Works are anticipated to be completed by 6am on Monday, December 6.

An Amey spokesperson said: “This scheme, with a value of £226,781, will benefit around 5,948 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.”

The scheme is dependent on weather conditions and may be cancelled, or rescheduled, if they are not favourable.
