Roads reopen in Nottingham city centre as Broadmarsh crane removed ahead of schedule

A busy road in Nottingham city centre has reopened after contractors managed to disassemble the tower crane on the Broadmarsh shopping centre site.

The closure on Collin Street, from its junction with Maid Marian Way to its junction with Middle Hill, caused considerable delays on Saturday, July 25 as traffic was forced to divert.

There were also closures on Maid Marian Way southbound only, from its junction with Friar Lane to its junction with Middle Hill, as well as the filter lane on Maid Marian Way outbound which was removed for safety reasons.

Nottingham City Council today (July 26) said all roads have since been reopened a day ahead of schedule.

Sir Robert McAlpine, the contractors working in Broadmarsh, had originally planned to be finished by 6am on Monday.

Transport Nottingham said: "Collin Street is now open again, well ahead of schedule and not even slowed down by the thunderstorms yesterday.

"Thank you all for your patience as the tower crane was removed from the Broadmarsh Centre."

Nottingham City Transport added: "The crane works on Collin Street have been completed earlier than scheduled. All services on Navy, Green, Orange 34 and Turquoise are now back to their normal routes and city centre stops."
