Roads police stopped almost 100 vehicles in Holyrood Park yesterday in huge crackdown

Roads policing in Edinburgh stopped almost 100 vehicles in Holyrood Park yesterday for a number of different offences.

Officers were undertaking a day of action in the park on Friday while the area was extremely busy with people due to the scorching weather.

In a huge crackdown they warned 66 prohibited commercial vehicles such as vans and lorries for using the park and one received a ticket for doing so. They also issued 20 speed warnings while three speeding tickets were dished out with the worst offender travelling at 37mph.

In addition, two careless driver warnings were issued, two vehicles were seized, two motorists were found to have no insurance and two had no driving licence.

The park is expected to be busy once more today (Saturday) with more sizzling weather forecast. Temperatures are expected to peak at around 21 or 22 degrees between 4pm and 6pm – meaning it's likely to be even warmer than yesterday .
