Two people have been injured after being hit by a car in Sloane Square.

MP Greg Hands, who represents the area, said he heard that the vehicle "mounted the pavement and struck pedestrians".

He added: "Am checking with eye-witnesses that everyone is OK."

Police said on Wednesday afternoon they were dealing with a suspicious vehicle in London's Sloane Square.

The force later said two people had been injured after being hit and were subsequently taken to hospital.

It was not immediately clear what condition they were in.

The incident is being treated as an alleged driving offence and is not terror-related, the force added.

One man has been arrested.

Police would not confirm if the car had mounted the pavement.

Mr Hands meanwhile said it was a "relief" that officers had ruled the incident out as terror-related.

The Metropolitan Police said that cordons and closures are currently in place in the area.

The London Ambulance Service also said it was called to a traffic collision.
