Road closures were put in place and cordoned off due to a police incident in Dingle.
Police set up a cordon on Park Street at around 8pm on Tuesday night as witnesses reported that there had been a crash.
Around five police vehicles were seen close to the cordon where officers had closed an area near a car and a bike.
Residents in the area told the ECHO that they believe a person was 'knocked off their bike' by a car but this has not yet been confirmed.
Images from the scene show a dark grey Vauxhall car behind the cordon next to a push bike.
A number of road traffic officers are on the scene conducting enquiries and it is believed they will remain there throughout the night.
The ECHO contacted Merseyside police but officers refused to comment.
