Road to be closed for 5 months to allow work to take place on £40m bypass

A Nottinghamshire road will be closed to motorists until May as construction takes place on a new £40 million bypass.

From June last year, Lambley Lane was closed during daytime hours between 7am and 6pm.

However, from January 4, the road will now be fully closed as work accelerates on the new Gedling Access Road (GAR).

The £40m relief route has been designed to ease congestion in Gedling Village and started in January last year.

Once built, the 3.8km single carriageway will link the A612 Trent Valley Road and Nottingham Road to Mapperley Plains.

The GAR will run parallel with the A6211 Arnold Lane and through the centre of the old Gedling Colliery to serve the vast, £140m Chase Farm housing estate that's redeveloped the former pit site.

Nottinghamshire County Council confirmed this new section of the project has been brought forward following good progress on-site.

The closure will mean there will be no pedestrian or vehicle access as it is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week until at least May.

This will allow drainage works to take place.

A diversion route will be in place via A6211 Arnold Lane, B684 Mapperley Plains, Spring Lane and vice versa.
