Road shut off with police at scene after car smashes into wall

A road in Chadderton has been shut off after a car smashed into a wall.

Police were called to Middleton Road at the junction with Peel Street following the smash at 7.30pm.

Fire crews and paramedics are also at the scene.

Pictures show two cars in the street that have been damaged, with police vehicles blocking any access to other motorists.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said the vehicle that crashed into the wall was a Vauxhall Astra.

They said: "It was one vehicle RTC, it happened at 7.30pm.

"A car crashed into a wall, there's no information on arrests. The ambulance have attended."

They said there's not believed to be serious injuries.

On Twitter, TfGM posted: "Travel Update: Middleton Road, Chadderton is closed at the junction with Peel Street due to an RTC. Seek an alternative route."

MancTraffic tweeted: "A669 Middleton Rd, Chadderton is CLOSED from Victoria St to Lansdowne Rd after a crash at Peel St/Grafton St. Congestion on approach.

"Small vehicles can use Hunt Lane (nb: width restriction) and Stockfield Rd."
