Pedestrian seriously injured after collision with car on in industrial estate in Bridgend

A pedestrian has been left with serious injuries following a collision with a car on an industrial estate.

Emergency services were called Simonston Road, Bridgend just before 6pm this evening.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a person lying unconscious on the side of the road and a heavy police prescence.

As of 11.05pm, the road remains closed.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road remains closed while collision investigators continue to work at the scene."

Earlier in the evening, traffic monitoring agency Inrix said that the road had been both directions from Coychurch Playing Fields due to "accident investigation work".

An eyewitness said: "It looked pretty bad. There was someone was unconscious on the side of the road. I think it was a man. There were lots of police."

Detectives have not yet given details on the make, model or colour of the vehicle involved. And the age and sex of the pedestrian has also not yet been disclosed either.

However, officers are still appealing for information as they try to piece the events of the incident.

The force spokesman added: "Anybody who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact 101 and give reference *430881."
