Road shut and blood on car after police called to reports of 'fight' in Droylsden

One of the main roads in Droylsden was shut off last night after a fight in the street.

Police said they attended Edge Lane after reports of violence breaking out just after 7pm.

Local residents said there had been a fight in the middle of the busy road.

Blood could be seen splattered on a Volkswagen Golf which was parked at the side road.

When officers arrived those involved had left the scene, police said.

However a big cordon was put in place whilst they carried out enquiries.

The section of the road was taped off close to the junction with Ashton New Road, one of the town's major junctions.

A number of police cars attended along with plain clothes detectives.

It is not known how many people were involved in the disturbance.

However Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said today they had now traced them and said no one had been seriously hurt.

GMP said enquiries into the incident were ongoing (ASP)

No one has been arrested and enquiries are continuing.

A GMP spokeswoman said: "At 19:15 on Wednesday July 1, police were called to a disturbance on Edge Lane in Droylsden. 

"Upon attending all parties had left the scene however they have since been located and there are only minor injuries involved.

"No arrests have been made.

"The investigation continues."
