Road sealed off and searched after neighbours hear 'loud bangs'

Roads were sealed off and searched last night after residents reported hearing "loud bangs".

Officers were called to Muirhead Avenue, Clubmoor, at around 9.45pm on Monday to respond to reports of the noises.

They were called out to reports of mysterious "loud bangs" being heard by residents, before a black BMW drove away from the area.

Officers carried out house-to-house enquiries and photos from the scene showed a police presence in the area.

After extensive searches, police said there was no evidence of any firearms discharge and no one was found to be injured.

One ECHO reader who lives in the area but did not wish to be named told the ECHO: "[There was] an incident on Muirhead avenue last night - the road was blocked off by police between the roundabout and Queens Drive.

"A large section was taped off between the central reservation and the carriageway going towards Queens Drive. The other side was open.

"There must have been about six to seven police cars in between. I think it was about between 9.30 and 10.30"
