Residents in East Kilbride faced disruption this week when a road was closed due to resurfacing works.
The work affected nearly 200 homes in Ontario Park and Sudbery Crescent and began on Monday and is due to be finished tomorrow (Friday).
Access for vehicles was restricted with some residents complaining that they were caught unawares with no advance notification that they were carrying out the work from South Lanarkshire Council.
SLC dispute this, however, saying properties were lettered mid-October about the works.
But one local told Lanarkshire Live: "A number of residents never got any letter about this work and while there was limited vehicular access to begin with, after a couple of days it was closed off to cars completely, with marshalls stopping folk at the entrance to the road.
"This caused a great deal of inconvenience to not only the streets where the works were carried out, but also those living nearby or trying to get elsewhere.
"It seems to have been a bit of a shambles to be honest."

Colin Park, head of roads and transportation services, said: “Carriageway repair works started on Ontario Park on Monday and are on schedule to be complete by tomorrow.
“The road isn’t wide enough to safely allow vehicle access while work is ongoing, so approximately 180 properties in both Ontario Park and Sudbury Crescent were lettered mid-October to let them know that the road would be closed 8am - 5pm daily.
“Nonetheless, every effort has been made to maintain access for residents within the closure area wherever possible, with traffic marshals on site throughout to keep drivers up to date.”
