Road rage driver follows woman through Darvel in threatening incident

A man who followed a woman through Darvel in a threatening road rage incident has been fined.

James Littlejohn appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week where he admitted the offence from June 12 last year which involved shouting at the woman to “Get out the f***ing car” and to “come down the side street where there are no cameras”.

His defence agent, Neil McPherson, told the court Littlejohn reacted after the woman beeped her horn.

The court heard how Littlejohn, of Kyle Street in Prestwick, had parked in the middle of the road outside the 58-year-old woman’s home.

The fiscal depute said: “The woman thought Littlejohn’s behaviour to be “erratic and aggressive” as he got out his van and came towards her.

The prosecutor continued: “He began shouting aggressively at her to “get out the f***ing car” and in her panic she got out the vehicle.

“He then shouted 'go and get your man and I will sort him out.'

“He was gesturing as though he was going to grab the witness which caused her more fear. Due to this she returned to her vehicle and the accused drove off.”

However, the woman then saw Littlejohn’s car again when she was driving on West Main Street.

He was pointing at her to pull over which she did at which point he “asked her to get out and to come down the side street where there were no cameras.”

Sheriff Shirley Foran described his behaviour as “sinister”.

Sheriff Foran said: “It’s one thing to be fuming behind the wheel of your car, it’s another to get out your car not once but twice.” She added: “I think you have serious anger issues.”

Littlejohn was fined £600.
