Road outside Asda is turned into a river after torrential rain hits

This was the scene outside Asda in West Bridgford after torrential rain hit early on Sunday evening.

The Met Office had issued yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in parts of Nottinghamshire with the potential for flooding - and they were right.

The storms hit at 6pm and continued for a good hour.

Twitter user 'Chatty woman' posted the video above with the caption, 'Well that was fun.'

But it wasn't just Loughborough Road that was affected.

Other people in West Bridgford took to social media to highlight the impact of the rain in their area.

It perhaps wasn't the best day for the first of the summer's outdoor cinema screenings in West Bridgford - with the Mamma Mia showing starting at 6pm -  although this person remained stoic about the whole thing:

Meanwhile Musters Road and Selby Road were closed due to a sinkhole.

And there were also six other roads - Rugby Road, Gordon Road, Abbey Road, Malvern Road, Sherborne Road and Loughborough Road - closed dur to localised flooding.
