Pedestrian hit by vehicle near Cardiff Airport

One of the main routes to Cardiff Airport was closed after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

Police are appealing for information after the incident happened on the A4226 in Barry at 2.30am on Saturday.

South Wales Police said a pedestrian was in collision with a vehicle.

The road was closed between the Travelodge and the roundabout where the A4226 meets Port Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, which is often used to access Cardiff Airport, and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area.

Cardiff Airport says: "Please plan your route, leave plenty of time and take care on your journey to the airport."
