Road in Miles Platting shut off by emergency services with large police presence

A section of a road in Miles Platting has been cordoned off by emergency services after a 'police incident'.

A cordon is currently in place on Oldham Road.

The road is closed in both directions between Collyhurst Street and Fir Street.

In a statement, TfGM said: "Travel update: Road closures in place on Oldham Road A62 due to a police incident.

"Oldham Road/Collyhurst Street Oldham Road/Livesey Street Oldham Road/Fir Street."

Pictures from the scene show a cordon in place with police tape closing off the road.

There is believed to be a large police presence in the area.

One eyewitness told the M.E.N: "Police have now put a tape across the road, the incident is taking place where the recycling place is and up by Varley Street.

"At least 12 police vehicles are there. Police line has now been extended on Oldham Road to Naylor Street."

Another eyewitness said armed police were at the scene.

The M.E.N have contacted Greater Manchester Police for a comment, but no details have been released at this stage.
