Road in Bolton town centre to close to traffic during all of England's games at Euro 2020

A road in Bolton town centre will close to traffic during every single England match at Euro 2020.

Bradshawgate, which is home to several of the town's pubs and bars, will be shut between Bank Street and Great Moor Street.

The closure will start two hours before kick-off and end two hours after the match finishes.

It means that cars will be prevented from getting onto Wood Street, Princess Street, Churchgate, Silverwell Street, Institute Street, Clive Street, Church Bank and Silverwell Lane.

However, there will be controlled access points to allow residents and businesses access during these closure times. These will be staffed by GMP and Bolton Council.

England's first match will take place on Sunday (June 13) at 2pm, while other group stage games will kick off at 8pm next Friday (June 18) and 8pm on June 22.

The closure will also apply to any subsequent fixtures that England qualify for beyond the group stages of the competition.

In a letter sent out to local residents and businesses, a spokesman for the highways and engineering division of the department of place said: "We look forward to your continued cooperation and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

"Any queries or concerns can be sent to highwaysbolton.gov.uk."
