Fallen tree hits block of flats, roads flooded and lightning strikes

Residents were evacuated from their homes after a tree fell on flats in Hanham.

The incident off the High Street was one of many caused by Storm Dennis this weekend.

They also included the flooding of Yanley Lane in Long Ashton, with a red car left stranded.

North Somerset Council shared a photo on Twitter of the road this afternoon (Sun, Feb 16).

It is not the only area affected by Storm Dennis. A Co-op in Nailsea has had its sign completely ripped off and multiple flights were cancelled out of Bristol Airport throughout the weekend.

Also over the weekend, adverse conditions caused a tree to fall onto Brockley Combe Road near Bristol Airport, causing it to be blocked in both directions, while dozens of flights to and from the airport have been cancelled.
