Road covered in dead pigeons every day as neighbours say 'it's a joke'

Residents have been left disgusted and horrified after dozens of dead pigeons were found lying across their street.

It is understood the birds were shot from the sky and found by locals who have been forced to dispose of their remains.

Pictures show a number of dead birds which have been left strewn across roads and back gardens in Coronation Drive in Prescot.

Locals have taken to social media to express their disgust at what they claim is someone close by shooting the birds down.

One resident said: “Getting a joke now whoever is shooting pigeons in Coronation Drive or the close behind mine.

“Everyday having to pick dead pigeons up in your garden it’s not nice at all.”

Another person said: “They are all over the road. Disgusting behaviour.”

A third added: “I always hear shots near mine. I was thinking about what it was. Disgusting cruel idiots.”

A fourth said: “I found three dead pigeons on Coronation Drive. The seagulls have been eating them and there were a fair few about."

The ECHO contacted Merseyside Police regarding the incident which has caused much distress amongst locals in the area.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve had no reports of pigeons being shot at on Coronation Drive.

“Anyone with information can report it to us via our social media desk @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or by calling 101.

“You can also pass information via the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or via their online form at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information.”
