Road cordoned off in Trafford after reports of shooting

A road in Trafford has been cordoned off following reports of a shooting.

The incident happened on Pennybridge Lane, near William Wroe Golf Course, in Flixton on Friday afternoon.

Councillor Paul Lally, who represents the Flixton ward, said the area was taped off due to a 'firearms incident'.

He said he was told by police that it was an isolated incident.

He did not have details about what was shot at.

A GMP spokesman said no one was injured.

Photos from the scene showed a number of emergency service vehicles at the scene.

An officer was pictured standing guard at a cordon.

Coun Lally said: "The police informed us of a serious incident, I was informed of a firearms incident.

"The area was made safe while evidence was being recieved.

"As a ward councillor, it's concerning to hear of something like this, it's disconcerting.

"I'm led to believe it's an isolated incident."

A spokesman for GMP said: "A firearms incident was reported at 2.45pm on Pennybridge Lane.

"There were no injuries."
