Road closures for Leeds Christmas lights switch on 2019

A massive crowd is expected for the and to ensure the event runs smoothly there will be some road closures in the city centre.

The big event, which well and truly kicks off the festive season, is happening from 6.30pm on Thursday, October 7.

There will be some temporary road closures to allow the big crowds to safely get around Leeds city centre.

These are running as follows on the day:

Cookridge Street (Headrow to St Anne’s Street)

From 11am to 11.59pm

Alexander Street (Access only)

From 1pm to 11:59pm

Headrow (Oxford Place to Albion Street)

From 5pm to 11.59pm

Park Square (North, South, East & West) & St Paul’s Place

From 7.30pm to 9.15pm

Calverley Street (Headrow to Gt George Street)

From 8pm to (approx) 9pm

To mark the club’s centenary, Leeds United will be sending members of their men’s and women’s first team to do the honour of illuminating the city.

A packed programme of events will be happening outside Leeds Art Gallery from 6.30pm.

During the night, entertainment will come from X Factor winners Rak-Su and classical quartet G4 with a crowd of around 20,000 people expected at the free event.
