
Lonsdale Street in Braddon is closed off as Extinction Rebellion parades down the street and into Civic.
ACT Policing previously warned Canberrans of possible traffic delays from about 6.30pm on Friday.
"Protesters are expected to congregate at Haig Park and move through Braddon and the city to Glebe Park from about 6.30pm onwards," ACT Policing said.
Streets that may include Lonsdale Street, Bunda Street and Genge Street. ACT Policing said they will be present at the protest and may close roads at short notice.

An Extinction Rebellion spokesperson said the group was not protesting, but was peacefully parading with a police escort to celebrate two weeks of protests. They were carrying banners and walking down the middle of the road.

They reached Glebe Park in Civic by about 7.40pm.
The climate activist group oppose the Morrison government's climate change policies.
On Thursday night, six climate activists from the group were arrested for blocking the Commonwealth Avenue bridge at peak hour. All six were listed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, ACT police said.
Extinction Rebellion protesters parked two trucks and pitched tents on the road heading towards Parliament House. Two people, including 80-year-old retired schoolteacher Margaret Clough, claimed to superglue themselves to the road.
Police said, "ACT Policing respects the right of individuals to peacefully protest, however criminal activity will not be tolerated."
