DRIVERS have been asked to avoid Newcastle Link Road after an incident involving a truck crash.
Eastbound lanes of the road at Wallsend, approaching Lake Road, were closed for almost an hour on Wednesday.
Traffic was heavy and motorists were asked to use George Booth Drive as an alternative route.
Emergency services were called about 10.30am and remained at the scene until 11.30am. Heavy traffic and long queues have been reported in the area, but the eastbound lanes have since reopened to traffic.
