Road closed off as pedestrian taken to hospital following crash in Ramsbottom

A main road in Ramsbottom has been shut after a pedestrian was taken to hospital following a crash.

Police were called to the collision, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, in Lumb Carr Road at 3.35pm today (Sunday, December 6).

The road has been sealed off in both directions between The Shoulder of Mutton pub and Bolton Road West.

An air ambulance was spotted landing on a field in the area, which is close to Holcombe Hill and Peel Tower.

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital, say police.

The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Pictures from the scene show a large police presence next to a car park in Lumb Carr Road.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision in Lumb Carr Road, Ramsbottom at 3.35pm.

"Officers have attended. One pedestrian casualty has been taken to hospital by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service."
