Road closed in Leigh following road traffic collision

A road has been closed in Leigh following a collision between a BMW 3 series and a Ford Fiesta.

Police were in attendance on Atherleigh Way between Lovers Lane and Kirkhall Lane from around 4pm on Sunday (August 22).

Pictures from the scene show a blue BMW with its front tyre missing and a dark grey Ford with damage to the driver’s side.

A number of police vehicles were present as enquiries were made.

It is not known if anyone was injured during the collision.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a comment.

A tweet from Transport for Greater Manchester read: “Atherleigh Way, Leigh. Road closure between Lovers Lane and Kirkhall Lane. This is due to an RTC. Please seek an alternative route.”
