Police have been investigating a serious crash on the A1068 which happened in the early hours of the morning.
The A1068 Fisher Lane between the A1 junction 80 at Seaton Burn and Blagdon Lane was closed at around midnight after a collision took place.
Police officers have put barriers and cones up on the road as they worked through the morning to carry out an collision investigation.
At this stage, it has not been confirmed how many vehicles were involved or if anybody was injured.
Northumbria Police said the road between the Seaton Burn roundabout and the Snowy Owl pub in Cramlington would stay closed until at least 10am on Saturday.
The road reopened after around 10 hours at 10.10am.
A spokesperson for the force was unable to confirm any details about the crash.
