Road closed as two men seen standing on high ledge outside Adelphi Hotel

Two men were spotted standing on a high ledge outside Liverpool's Adelphi hotel this afternoon (Monday).

Emergency services were called at around 1.45pm after receiving a report of a concern for the safety of two men on a ledge outside the city centre hotel. Ranelagh Place was closed while the incident was dealt with by emergency services. Passer-by Sean Ryan, 37, said: "The road was closed off but we didn't even know why at first. Then we looked up and saw the two men.

"I just thought it was mad and wondered what was going on in the room that made them stand outside like that. They didn't seem too scared considering how high they were."

Police confirmed they were in attendance at the scene. A spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called around 1.45pm after receiving a report of a concern for the safety of two males on a ledge outside the Adelphi hotel.

"Both males have now been brought down. Ranelagh Place was closed while the incident was dealt with but is now being re-opened."

There was no information about why the two men were outside on the ledge.
