Road closed as emergency services called barn fire in Gunthorpe

Firefighters from across the county have been called to a barn fire in Gunthorpe.

The incident happened at around 7.34pm near Lowdham Road on Tuesday, August 4.

On Tuesday evening, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said five fire appliances were in attendance, including one engine from Carlton, two from London Road, one from Bingham and another from Newark.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Firefighters are using one jet and two breathing apparatus to fight the flames.

It is believed that a tractor is also caught in the blaze.

Police have been called to the scene to close the road.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "We currently have five appliances at a barn fire in Gunthorpe.

"All local residents affected by the smoke should close their doors and windows."
