Road closed as armed police called to property in Gorseinon, Swansea

A road in Swansea was closed in both directions as armed police were called to on a residential area in Gorseinon .

Officers from South Wales Police were called to Gower View Road on Sunday afternoon after concerns were raised for the welfare of a resident.

The road was closed from Brynafon Road to Llannant Road.

A 41-year-old was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "Police were called to a property on Gower View Road, Gorseinon, at approximately 1.25pm today (Sunday, January 12) after concerns were raised for the welfare of a resident.

"Armed officers were deployed alongside divisional units as a precautionary measure, and the road was closed for a short time while the incident was safely resolved.

"The road has since reopened and local residents are thanked for their patience and understanding."
