Road closed as ambulances and fire engines rush to crash near Bolton town centre

A road has been closed after a crash near Bolton town centre.

Ambulances and fire engines have rushed to the scene at the junction of Lever Street and Fletcher Street.

The emergency services were called just before 10am to reports of a crash within the crossroads, by the Queen Elizabeth Pub.

The road has been closed and traffic is being diverted as paramedics deal with two patients, North West Ambulance Service has confirmed.

It is understood that firefighters were called as a person may have been stuck in a vehicle.

Transport for Greater Manchester has issued warnings of congestion in the area.

Diamond Bus service says its 571 route will be diverted via Bradford Road and Green Lane, then down Bridgeman Street.

The 572 will also go via Bridgeman Street and come in to Bolton via Green Lane and Bradford Road. Lever Street will be missed out in both directions.

The road continues to be blocked as emergency services deal with the incident.
