Road closed and person arrested as police and fire crews attend crash in Penylan, Cardiff

A driver has been injured after a crash on a busy Cardiff road.

Penylan Road remains shut in both directions after a two-vehicle crash involving a Nissan Juke and a Ford Ka.

One driver sustained a suspected leg injury during the incident, which took place just after 1.30pm between Colchester Avenue and Melrose Avenue.

One person has been arrested, a spokesman for South Wales Police said.

Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle remained at the scene after 3pm, a spokeswoman for Welsh Ambulance Service said. No-one had been taken to hospital by that time. Two fire and rescue crews were also in attendance.

Police officers have asked people to avoid the area and public transport services have been diverted.
