Road closed and driver taken to hospital after crashing into shop

A driver was taken to hospital after suffering a medical episode behind the wheel and crashing into a shop.

Around 3.10pm on Tuesday (February 6), officers were called to Chapel Lane in Formby. A Honda Jazz crashed into the corner of a shop, causing superficial damage.

The driver was taken to hospital due to suffering a suspected medical episode. His condition is not known at this stage.

A number of police vehicles attended the scene. The road was closed and enquiries are ongoing.
