A road has been closed following reports of a woman receiving facial injuries.
Nottinghamshire Police have closed Rosemary Street in Mansfield and are asking drivers to avoid the area.
In a statement, police said it is believed that "a woman has suffered life-altering injuries".
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
Police Sergeant Joseph Hall said: "Nottinghamshire Police were called at 4.15pm on November 11, 2020, following a report of a woman suffering facial injuries.
"Emergency services were at the scene and the woman was taken to hospital.
"We are appealing to anyone who saw the incident to ring 101, quoting incident number 447 of 11 November 2020."
