Part of a dual carriageway was closed this afternoon after a crash involving two cars, Merseyside Fire Service confirmed.
Emergency services including police, paramedics and a search and rescue team attended the scene on the Rainford-Bypass, near to the junction with Mill Lane.
The crash is thought to have happened at around 2pm this afternoon, close to the turn off to Rainford Industrial estate.
A section of the road heading towards St Helens town centre was closed for a number of hours while the scene was made safe.
Emergency services have yet to provide further details of the crash or the condition of those involved.
