A road was blocked by police after a head on crash during busy traffic.
Emergency services were called to Honey's Green Lane, in West Derby, shortly after 2.30pm to reports of the collision.
Road closures were quickly put in place as officers found a black Renault Megane and a black BMW.
Both cars were left seriously damaged with debris scattered in the road after the crash.
The front, right, wheel of the Renault had exploded during the crash while the passenger side air bag of the BMW was also deployed.
According to Merseyside Police, a woman in her 20s suffered a minor facial injury during the crash.
The junction of Honey's Green Lane and Blackmoor Drive was blocked for some time while police waited on the vehicles being recovered.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
