Road blocked as lorry ends up wedged on railings on Breeze Hill

A section of a busy road was blocked after a lorry crashed into railings in Bootle.

Police were called out to Breeze Hill at around 11.25am today following reports that a vehicle was in collision with railings.

A section of Breeze Hill was closed between Hawthorne Road and Balliol Road East by police as they made the scene safe.

Photographs from the scene showed that the lorry suffered massive damage as it was left wedged upon the railings, which tore open the rear container section.

Nobody was injured, police have confirmed.

Other lorries were seen arriving to remove supplies from the damaged vehicle.

A police spokesperson said to the ECHO: "At around 11.25am today (Wednesday 14 April) we received a report that a vehicle was in collision with railings at the junction of Breeze Hill and Hawthorne Road, Bootle.

"Road closures remain in place while the damaged vehicle is recovered and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
