Road blocked as lorry carrying chocolate goes up in flames near M56

A lorry carrying a load of chocolate has gone up in flames near to the M56.

The HGV caught fire on the A556, near Little Bollington in Cheshire shortly before 7.55pm on Thursday evening.

The driver escaped unharmed, according to traffic police.

All lanes of the A556 are blocked while firefighters and police tackle the fire.

A photograph taken by police at the scene shows a huge blaze in the carriageway.

North West Motorway Police Tweeted: "Further update, Cheshire fire on scene trying to get blaze under control, will keep you updated when lanes are to be re-opened."
