A car flipped over onto its roof in a single-car collision on the busy Central Motorway passing through Newcastle.
One lane of the A167(M) has been blocked off heading north after the crash at around 3.15pm on Saturday.
The car landed on its roof near to the central reservation with the passenger side door left open.
Northumbria Police were called to the scene and blocked off one lane until the car could be recovered.
A spokesperson for the force said they are in the process of clearing away the debris and fuel spilled onto the road.
They also said it didn't appear that the driver was seriously injured.
Traffic has been moving well past the crash which happened near to the Northumbria University campus.
