Fortunately nobody inside the vehicles is believed to have been seriously injured.

A spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.13am to a road traffic collision involving a Range Rover and Vauxhall Insignia. The road was blocked.

"Nobody is believed to have suffered major injuries."

Motorists were urged to find alternative routes while recovery of the vehicles took place.

However traffic appeared to be flowing again and the closure lifted by 10.30am.
