Road and playground in West Bridgford to reopen after sewage pipe repairs completed early

Work to repair a leaking sewage pipe in West Bridgford has been completed ahead of time.

Severn Trent Water confirmed on Sunday, March 8, that an 11-metre stretch of Adbolton Lane in  West Bridgford and its playground had to be closed while repairs were carried out.

Flooding was seen near the play area on Friday, March 6, and engineers found issues with a nearby sewage pipe meaning wastewater had been escaping.

The water company apologised to residents living in the area as the closure was expected to last "a couple of weeks".

The closure also affected Nottingham City Transport (NCT) services on the Green 11 and 11C routes which had to be diverted.

However, on Monday, March 9, Severn Trent Water announced work had been completed and the road would be reopen by Tuesday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “We’re really happy to say that the broken sewer pipe is now fixed and we’re currently re-laying the tarmac on the road. All being well the road should be open tomorrow afternoon.

“We’ve also had teams cleaning up at the play area today.

"They’ll give it another clean tomorrow just to be thorough and then that will be opened again  - also tomorrow.

“We’re really sorry for any inconvenience and we’re happy to have finished the work much quicker than planned.”
