Road and car left in tatters after destructive single car collision in Dublin

Part of a north Dublin road was left destroyed following a frightening single car collision on Christmas Day.

Worried residents who came on the crash over the festive period feared that someone had been seriously injured or worse in the smash which happened on the morning of December 25.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision in Glasnevin where one driver was injured.

The man in his 40s was brought to the Mater Hospital for treatment after miraculously only receiving minor injuries.

A Garda spokesman said: "Officers and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision in Glasnevin on the morning of 25 December."

He added: "One vehicle was involved in this collision and the driver, a male in his early 40s, was conveyed to Mater Hospital for treatment for his injuries."
