RNLI volunteers in Porthcawl have valuable 4x4 vehicles stolen

Police are investigating after thieves forced entry into RNLI premises and took two "high value" quads.

The vehicles were taken some time between 5pm on Friday, September 2 and 10am on Saturday, September 5 from the RNLI compound near New Road, Porthcawl.

RNLI volunteers said they were disappointed to find the 500cc red Honda quads missing, which are used to keep the public safe.

A spokesman said: "Two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) used by RNLI beach lifeguards were stolen on Saturday evening in Porthcawl.

"As a charity, we rely on the support of donations to fund our vehicles and equipment. These vehicles are used by our lifeguards to help keep beachgoers safe and help us cover a large area of beach quickly and safely."

South Wales Police is investigating the theft and appealing for information.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police in Porthcawl are investigating the theft of two quads from a lock-up off New Road in the town.

"The valuable 500cc red Honda vehicles were taken some time between 5pm on Friday 4 and 10am on Saturday, September 5.

"Those responsible for the theft forced entry to the premises to steal the high value vehicles which are owned by the RNLI."

An investigation into the theft is underway and officers are appealing for anybody with information to contact 101 using the crime reference number 2000324428.
