Riyadh Secures Release of Saudi National from Houthi Jails

Nasser al-Tharwi is received by his family upon his return to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia secured on Tuesday the release of a national from a jail operated by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.

Nasser al-Tharwi has been held by the militants for more than four years.

He arrived in Jeddah where he was received by his family at the King Abdulaziz International Airport.

He was kidnapped by the Houthis shortly after the Kingdom launched Operation Decisive Storm to rid Yemen of the militia coup in 2015.

Yemen government reports have revealed that the Houthis have arbitrarily arrested more than 14,000 people in the war-torn country. The majority are Yemeni civilians.
