Riyad Mahrez provides firm update on Man City future

Riyad Mahrez has reaffirmed his love for Manchester City and stated that he has no desire to leave the club for pastures new.

The Algerian joined City from Leicester in 2018 for £60million, helping the Blues win two Premier League titles, four domestic cups and reach last season's Uefa Champions League final.

However, Mahrez isn't the star man at City like he was with the Foxes, with whom he was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year when they won the title against all odds in 2015/16.

With just two years remaining on his contract at the Ethad Stadium, the option of seeking a new club where he could be the shining light in the autumn of his career could be a consideration for Mahrez.

But the 30-year-old says he is committed to the City cause and still has more to achieve for Pep Guardiola's side.

"What if I want to go higher? I do not see what is higher [than Manchester City]," Mahrez told YouTube channel Oui Hustle.

"To try another championship [elsewhere]? No. I really love England and English football is wonderful. I don't want to leave. I still have goals to pursue here.

"When you see [Pep] Guardiola wants you, it's flattering. The acclimatisation here was not easy, but our relationship today, everyone knows [it is great]."
