Riyad Mahrez posts update on Instagram after Man City vs West Ham postponed due to Storm Ciara

Riyad Mahrez took to social media after Manchester City's game against West Ham was postponed.

The Premier League clash, which was due to be played at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, was called-off due to safety concerns caused by the extreme weather condition.

Manchester City released the following statement: "Due to extreme and escalating weather conditions and in the interests of supporter and staff safety, today’s match has been postponed.

"This decision has been made by Manchester City’s Safety Officer following consultation with club stakeholders and officials at West Ham United.

"Further information regarding the rescheduling of today’s match will be published in due course."

With no date yet set for the rearranged fixture, Man City winger Riyad Mahrez appeared to hint that the match will not be played in the near future.

On Sunday evening, the Algerian international suggested that he was jetting off for a winter-break holiday by posting a picture on his Instagram account with the caption: 'Off', with an aeroplane emoji.

With City's next Premier League game not scheduled until 22 February at Leicester, Mahrez's post would suggest that the game against West Ham will not be rearranged to be played in the next seven days, or even next weekend.

David Moyes' side are not in action until February 24, and they will have had a 23-day break before they next take to the field.

Finding a new slot for this fixture won't be an easy feat, with Manchester City's participation in four different competitions likely to cause some difficulties.
