Riyad Mahrez identifies Man City advantage ahead of Tottenham return fixture

Riyad Mahrez believes Manchester City's home form will give them optimism ahead of facing Tottenham in the Champions League next week.

City go into the second-leg of their quarter-final encounter knowing they must win if they are to have any chance of progressing to the final four of the competition this year.

Heung-Min Son netted the only goal of the game on Tuesday night as Spurs capitalised on a rare lapse in concentration and punished Pep Guardiola's side emphatically.

City will welcome Spurs to the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday night as they look to overturn the one goal deficit and reach the Champions League semi-finals for only the second time in their history, and Mahrez believes their home form should give them added confidence.

City have won 23 of their 25 home matches this season and the Algeria international believes this incredible record could make the difference next week.

"At home we are very good," he said. "We're going to give everything and I feel we can win.

"We will never put our heads down. It was a difficult game. Even if we drew we still have to win our game at home so it doesn't change our approach.

"Of course, it was a difficult game. We know Tottenham, a physical team, a lot of intensity. It was the game we expected."
