Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have responded to rumours they've broken up in the best way possible.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Reinhart and Sprouse had split up following a two-year relationship.

"Multiple sources" had informed US Weekly that the couple were no longer together, despite no public comment from either party.

In new posts shared by the actors on Instagram on Thursday, both have seemingly implied that the rumours circulating the breakdown of their relationship are nothing but tabloid fodder.

"BREAKING: A reliable source has confirmed that none of you know s**t," Reinhart wrote in her Instagram caption, alongside a photograph taken of her and Sprouse for the latest issue of W Magazine.

Sprouse also shared the same image with the caption: "UNPRECEDENTED: Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart consume the flesh of 'reliable sources' to fuel their bacchanalian sex cult."

In the caption for a second picture shared by the 26-year-old actor, he wrote: "An incredible pleasure to shake all of your beliefs in tabloid media."

Reinhart and Sprouse's dystopian-themed photo shoot for W Magazine was captured by American photographer Steven Klein.

The couple wear a variety of bright red, yellow and green clothing, pictured against a desolate backdrop.

Several of the actors' fans praised them for their witty Instagram captions regarding speculation over the state of their relationship.

"Holy moly this is badass," one person commented.

"Honestly knew it wasn't true. Love you guys loads," another remarked.

Reinhart recently spoke out about seeing a therapist for her mental health, stating that it is nothing to "be ashamed of".

The 22-year-old explained that "everyone can benefit from seeing a therapist", regardless of their age.

"We are all human. And we all struggle. Don't suffer in silence. Don't feel embarrassed to ask for help," the actor said.
