It’s important to find the silver linings in life, whether that be picking up a new hobby out of boredom or strengthening the bond with a loved one during a trying time. Washington Redskins coach Ron Rivera has found a silver lining in the possibility of having no fans in the stands of NFL games this fall, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It would make road games a heck of a lot easier to manage.
“If you’re the home team, you kind of wish you had your folks in the stands,” Rivera said, via NBC Sports Washington. “When you have to go someplace like Dallas or Philadelphia, it might be refreshing that you don’t have their fans in the stands. That’s for darn sure.”
On top of that, home games also might be a bit easier for the Redskins, as they won’t have to contend with a FedEx Field crowd that has been infiltrated division rivals, be it the Eagles, Cowboys, or New York Giants. While home-field advantage is a great benefit for most teams, the lack of fan support may be a great equalizer for the Redskins when playing in Landover. It may suck for fans to miss out on live gameday environments, but it’s important to find the silver linings in it all.
