River tragedy as person dies after being recovered from water in Inverness

A person has died after they were pulled from the water near the Kessock Bridge in Inverness.

Police Scotland confirmed officers raced to the scene on the banks of the Beauly Firth at around 1.45pm on Friday December 18.

They said the victim was recovered but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A force spokesman said there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

They added: “Shortly after 1.45pm on Friday, December 18, police responded to a report of a concern for a person in the water at the Kessock Bridge, Inverness.

“They were recovered from the water and pronounced dead a short time later.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
